GILT
Jacksonville, FL, USA
GILT, jokingly self-identified as ‘post-Florida hardcore’ for their relentless cross-country tour schedule, have made a name for themselves by bridging punk sensibilities and emo aesthetics while vocally advocating for marginalized communities. Deep in the restless quarantine of 2020, the band released their debut LP “Ignore What’s Missing” and still managed to host their annual charity festival "Snipfest" on a digital platform, raising several thousand dollars towards gender-affirming name changes for LGBTQ+ folks across the country. The band has now set sights on releasing two EPs in fall 2021 and spring 2022, and finally their second album in 2023 along with extensive touring in North America, UK, and EU. Vocalist Ash (they/he/she), and guitarists Tilley (she/they) and Tyler (they/them) are deeply invested in working within a network of their peers and outside of their own charity, the band is closely connected to Jacksonville’s JASMYN, as well as having released their debut album through queer-owned Florida punk label Knifepunch Records, and being represented by international management group Queers to the Front.
